5 ways to improve productivity

Switch off - put your phone on airplane mode.

This way you are not checking texts from your best friend that is bored in iso, no notifications letting you know exactly what Kim Kardashian had for breakfast. Zero distractions, just you and your work. Sometimes I need to leave my phone in another room just to get focused and because I'm too lazy to get up. If you are working on a computer install a website blocker like StayFocusd.

Take a ten minute break every hour

I like to use my apple watch for this, it gives you a gentle tap if you haven't stood in the last hour. You might feel like a productivity machine when you are chained to your desk but trust me. When you look back at the end of the day and reflect, you probably didn't achieve as much as you thought. So stand up, take a break, stretch your legs, grab a cuppa, flick through a magazine (so retro I know) and have that well-deserved break.

Focus on one

I set one big goal a day and 3 mini goals. It feels great at the end of the day ticking them all off - because instead of a massive to do list, my day is under control and easily achievable.

Use your energy

Work according to your flow (that's the benefit of being your own boss) If you are a procrastinator you need to work with what you have instead of fighting it, go out for brunch, don't feel guilty and when you are ready to get down to business. Don't use it as an excuse to not kick your goals though.

Utilize your calendar

Allocate realistic timeframes for tasks, and work within them. This will keep you focused and automatically remind you of your next task. Who doesn't love automated nagging?
